About
The Comms Department is an independent strategic advisory working with philanthropic funders and their grantees.
Our work sits at the intersection of communications, positioning and grantmaking strategy - helping organisations strengthen how their work is understood, supported and communicated.
A bridge across the funding relationship
We work across both sides of the funding relationship.
For grantees, we provide strategic support on positioning, communications and influence.
For funders, we bring insight from the ground - helping translate impact into clear narratives and strengthening understanding across portfolios and issue areas.
Working across both perspectives allows us to connect strategy, communications and impact in a practical way
Beyond a traditional communications role
While work is often delivered through communications, our work is broader.
We support organisations in shaping how their work is positioned, understood and supported - linking communications directly to wider strategic goals.
That means the work is not just about messaging.
It’s about helping important work gain traction, building alignment and supporting long-term impact.
How we work
Independent by design.
Embedded by practice
The Comms Department is led by Tash Nikolovski.
Tash works independently and collaborates with a trusted network of specialists when projects require additional expertise.
This allows clients to work directly with a senior advisor while still accessing broader capabilities where needed.
This is designed to feel embedded, practical and closely aligned to the realities of the organisations that are supported.
